The Marcos family

WHILE known for his political career and his role as the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. also leads a fulfilling family life.

Behind the scenes, his family is a cornerstone of support, shaping his public and personal personas. At the heart of this family are his wife, Liza, and their three sons, Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro,” Joseph Simon, and William Vincent “Vinny” Marcos.

First Lady and Atty. Louise Liza Araneta-Marcos comes from the influential Araneta clan.

She is a founding partner at Marcos Ochoa Serapio Tan law firm and has taught law at several universities, including the Far Eastern University (FEU). She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1981 and Law in 1985 from the Ateneo de Manila University. In 1989, she enrolled in post-graduate classes in Criminal Procedure at the New York University.

The First Lady has played an important role in her husband’s campaigns and is a key advisor to him. She has been noted for her commitment to her profession and her family.

In interviews, Marcos Jr. has credited Liza for her constant support, emphasizing her strength as a partner who keeps him grounded despite the challenges of public service.

The couple’s quiet yet close relationship has allowed them to stay united despite the pressures of political life. The First Lady is also known for being a hands-on mother, keeping the family tightly knit while supporting their children’s endeavor.

Born in 1994, Sandro is the eldest son. He has a degree in International Politics from the University of London and a Master’s in Development Studies from the London School of Economics (LSE).

Sandro entered politics in 2022 and is representative of the 1st District of Ilocos Norte. He is known for his involvement in youth and developmental issues and has gained significant media attention due to his active role in the political arena.

While he is the most publicly visible due to his political career, all three brothers are well-educated, having attended prestigious schools abroad. They appear alongside their parents in official events and campaigns, reflecting the tight-knit family dynamics.

Joseph Simon, one the other hand, has taken a more private path, and completed a degree in Business Administration and Management from Oxford Brookes University, one of the leading modern universities in the United Kingdom.

William Vincent a.k.a. “Vinny” at 25 years old is the youngest among the three Marcos brothers. Born on May 17, 1997, he also graduated from Oxford Brookes University and is currently working as a software engineer.

Although President Bongbong is seen by many as a politician, his softer, more personal side often emerges when it comes to his family. He has expressed in interviews his joy in seeing Sandro take up the reins in politics, while also cherishing moments spent with Simon, whose achievements he celebrates in more private ways.

There are endearing stories of the President as a father, balancing his political duties with the roles of a regular parent.

For example, during the height of his political campaigns, he made time for his children’s important life events, showing that despite the rigors of governance, family comes first.

The strength of his relationship with his children also reflects his leadership style—nurturing, firm, and goal-oriented.

Throughout his political career, his President’s family has played an instrumental role in providing not just personal support but also professional insight. First Lady Liza’s legal expertise and Sandro’s growing political influence have contributed significantly to his governance.

At home, Bongbong is a father who values tradition, often seen spending quality time with his family during holidays and special occasions. His deep connections with his children and wife add a humanizing touch to his persona as a national leader, showing that beyond the public’s view, Bongbong Marcos is a family man at heart.
