Leaving ABS-CBN after seventeen years was not easy for Kuya Kim Atienza, but the veteran broadcaster has transferred to GMA, he is thankful to his previous home and is looking forward to his now projects as a Kapuso.
But little do people know that Kapuso actor Alden Richards played a role in Kuya Kim’s decision to accept GMA’s offer. At his first press con as a Kapuso star yesterday, Kuya Kim revealed Alden was actually one of the signs that made him say yes.
At the Zoom press con, Kuya Kim recalled meeting Alden out of the blue at a tambayan in Pasig. He said he was consulting two of his friends from the marketing field when he heard someone calling his name.
“Nagkakape kami sa gilid ng motor ko and I have a friend who is a commercial director and one who was in marketing in ABS-CBN and tinanong ko sila, would it be wise to move networks at this point? It’s been a year and a half already since the network closed, give me advice,” he related.
“While they were giving them advice, I told them, I’m praying for a sign from God. God has always spoken to me clearly through signs. Habang sinasabi ko ‘yun, someone called my name. May gym kasi sa taas ng tinatambayan ko. Kuya Kim! Kuya Kim! Lumapit naka gym clothes. Naka face mask, hindi ko makilala kung sino. Nung lumapit na siya, tinanggal nya face mask nya, si Alden. Sbai nung dalawang kausap ko, napatahimik sila. Kim, parang sign ata yun. Sabi ko, oo nga ano. Pinag uusapan natin ang GMA 7, ang paglipat, biglang one of the biggest stars of GMA comes and calls my name,” ,” he further said.
“Hindi naman pumupunta si Alden dun. Bihirang bihira. Siguro never ko siyang nakita run… So that was one of the signs among many others,” he added.
The 54-year-old host and trivia master will be part of three shows on GMA: “24Oras,” where he debuted last Monday, “Dapat Alam Mo” with Patricia Tumulak and “Mars Pa More.”
