‘They’re more concerned about Paolo’s alleged infidelity to LJ Reyes, than with the rampant cases of corruption‘
COVID cases have reached an all-time high of 26,000 plus, but netizens are still more interested in the love life of celebrities. The forbidden affair between Paolo Contis and Yen Santos has been fodder for gossip columns and the subject of many memes and internet comments. You would think they’re such big superstars.
Of course, most of the comments are negative, especially for Paolo, who made the mistake of opening up and asking for an apology. This only added fuel into the fire and further triggered the ire of people who bashed him violently from here to kingdom come.
They are more concerned about Paolo’s alleged infidelity to LJ Reyes, than with the rampant cases of corruption of government officials that continue to surface, from the malversation of Philhealth funds to the overpricing of face masks and PPE’s.
This is understandable as ordinary citizens lead such boring lives that they find so much solace and entertainment in following the lives of celebrities who, like all of us, just have feet of clay. There’s nothing like dirt among showbiz people to stir up everyone’s interest.
The controversial romance of Paolo and Yen is said to have bloomed while they were shooting “A Faraway Land,” a movie that was allegedly even produced by Yen’s filthy rich politician benefactor, who now does not care about her anymore. We do not know if their real-life romance helped in boosting the viewership of their movie on Netflix. But as of now, Yen no longer has any projects to do since the films she did lately were produced by her boyfriend, who understandably won’t anymore finance any future projects for her.

Sunshine Guimary’s debut flick, “Kaka,” was a big hit in Vivamax so we’re not surprised that she is now given a follow-up movie, “Shoot! Shoot! Di Ko Siya Titigilan.” Just like “Kaka,” her second screen outing is a comedy and she’s paired with Andrew E, to be shown on Vivamax starting October 8.
So how is it working with Andrew? “Noong una, ‘di ako sure how it would go kasi veteran na siya sa industry,” she said. “Napanood ko movies niya noon and he’s really funny. Sa shoot, magaan siyang kasama. Ang number one na gusto ko sa kanya is his sense of humor kasi lagi siyang nagpapatawa.”
Will she have sexy scenes in the movie?
“Siempre, hindi mawawala ‘yun kasi sex-comedy ito. Very naughty ang humor gaya ng iba pang ginawa ni Andrew before.”
The movie is based on a song written by Andrew himself, titled “Shoot! Shoot!” He was surprised when Vic del Rosario of Viva told him to make a new comedy based on the song.
“Actually, 2003 ko pa sinulat ang ‘Shoot! Shoot!’” he says. “It’s about long-distance relationship. Nagulat ako sumikat uli ngayon dahil sa Tiktok. Ginagamit nung mga nagsasayaw sa Tiktok at naging viral. I can’t believe na naging popular siya after 18 years ago, kaya ayan, napansin ng Viva. They ask me, would you like to do a movie with it. O heto ngayon, ipapalabas na sa Vivamax.”
Andrew started his career in 1990 when his song, “Humanap Ka ng Panget,” hit it big and later became a hit film. After 31 years in the industry, how does he feel that he is still active at 54 years old and being paired with younger girls like Sunshine and AJ Raval?
“Yes, it’s unbelievable na may chance pa ako to kiss young girls sa pelikula. I want to thank Boss Vic that he still finds me as a performer who can still deliver and create an underdog character na kagigiliwan ng tao and end up in the arms of these young ladies. I really want to thank Viva for giving me the chance to work with them.”
In the movie, Andrew plays Jack, a simple guy who dreams of being an actor. While rehearsing his lines for a role where he plays the heir of a billionaire relative, a neighbor who heard him thought it’s true that he’s inheriting billions and told about his good fortune to their neighbors. This brings Jack hilarious complications and he is even pursued by some bad guys who are after his imagined riches, even putting his life in danger.
