The history of dance stretches as long as the history of man. Dance has evolved as an artistic expression, birthing styles owned and shaped by various cultural aesthetic sensibilities.
The International Dance Day was established in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), to unite communities through dance movement across cultural and political divides, while also recognizing dancers and choreographers for their artistic contributions. In the Philippines, the celebration features a week-long festival spotlighting the crí¨me de la crí¨me of Filipino dance talent.

From April 24 to 28, the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati unites over 500 artists representing a kaleidoscope of genres from folkloric traditions to urban beats, classical elegance, and contemporary styles–plus an engaging workshop focused on dance in film

It is truly a groundbreaking initiative that reflects our commitment to nurturing Filipino talent by bringing together diverse dance companies and genres under one roof,” shares Christopher Mohnani, Samsung Performing Arts Theater managing director.
