Marian Rivera considers it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be chosen to help select the next Miss Universe.
In a Zoom press con last Friday, the actress revealed that her team was approached by the Miss Universe Organization last month. She passed the vetting process and will be leaving today, December 6, for Eilat, Israel, where the coronation will take place on December 13.
Marian said, “Minsan lang ako mabigyan ng ganitong pagkakaton na mapabilang sa ganitong klase.”
The Kapuso Primetime Queen will keep a tight schedule and has made sure to prepare herself mentally and psychologically to the tasks ahead that she does not anymore mind the negative comments from people who are not happy with her new role.
When it comes to the qualities she will she look for in a Miss Universe, Marian gave an answer that could have won her a crown: “Given na, siyempre, pag beauty ang pinag-uusapan, kailangan maganda ka talaga literal. Pero ang pinakaimportante diyan siguro kung paano ka makitungo sa kapwa mo,” she said.
“At kung paano ‘yung kapwa mo na tinitingnan ka, ‘yung nakapagbibigay ka ng inspirasyon para sa kanila. Kasi para sa akin, ‘yung kalooban na masi-share mo sa ibang tao, that’s priceless,” she continued. “Ang beauty kasi madali iyan. Puwede iyang mag-makeup, pero siyempre, it’s part of the beauty contest. Pero ang mahalaga diyan kung ano ‘yung nasa loob mo.”
She mentioned that she participated in and won beauty contests when she was younger but did not entertain the idea of joining a national pageant when she became active in showbiz. However, if Zia, Marian and Dingdong Dantes’ six-year-old daughter, would want to join one in the future, she and her husband will be there to support her.
