‘Time management lang po ‘yan – Maine Mendoza’
MAINE Mendoza is the busiest female star these day with shows on no less than three different channels: GMA-7 (“Daddy’s Gurl” and “Eat Bulaga”), on TV5 (“PoPinoy”) and on BukoChannel (“Maine Goals”). So how does she do it?
“Time management lang po ‘yan,” she says. “Yes, I feel so blessed to be busy even if it can be physically taxing, but I’m thankful may work ako lalo ngayong pandemya na maraming walang trabaho.”
“Daddy’s Gurl” is celebrating it’s third anniversary and Vic Sotto was asked how she is now as a comedian.
“Maine has always been a natural actress,” said Vic. “Nagsisimula pa lang siya, kita mo nang may talent siya for comedy. And through the years, we all witnessed how she has evolved not only as an actress but also as a host.”
How does she feel about this? “I’m speechless po. I don’t know how to react. Pero sobrang nakaka-flatter. But I owe everything to Bossing and the Dabarkads kasi in working with them, they bring out the best in me.”
Maine has shown how endearing she is with her true-to-life personal misadventures in “#MaineGoals”, her travel and lifestyle vlog series in BuKo Channel that will have its season finale this week with a Halloween-themed show and a heartwarming surprise for her viewers. Maine reveals a side of herself in her show’s upcoming season-ender that will warm the hearts of those working closely with her.
The show’s final week episodes, a Halloween special, feature Maine in her first ghost hunting experience as well as her quirky party planning skills. She presents the entire production team with not just a themed get-together, with Maine handing out meaningful prizes to her staff straight from her own pocket. Stay tuned for the finale week of “#MaineGoals” on BuKo channel, Monday to Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Thea Tolentino is one of the more favored stars on GMA. She is never without a project for long in the past two years. After she did “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko”, she did “Madrasta”, “Lost Recipe” and now, “Las Hermanas”.
“I’m really thankful na hindi ako matagal nababakante,” she sasy. “And now I play a good role as the middle child in ‘Las Hermanas’ between Yasmien Kurdi and Faith Da Silva.
Madalas na hindi napapakinggan ang boses niya, so naghahanap siya ng way to express her emotion by writing poems. Then she meets Lucho Ayala as Ronald and he changes her, taught her na it’s okay lang for her to speak up.”
How was it doing the show with Yasmien and Faith? “The three of us really became very close with each other during our lock-in taping out of town. ‘Yung characters namin dito ni Faith as Scarlet are opposites. She’s a free spirit. Happy go lucky lang, come what may. Ako naman, I can be very rigid. I overthink. Kaya kami ang madalas na nagka-clash.”
How has her life changed since she won in “The Protege” in 2012? “Malayo na ang Thea then to Thea now. I’ve matured enough to focus on supporting my family and enjoy talaga ako to work for them. I’ve learned a lot about my craft working with my co-stars and top directors.”
How about her lovelife? She and her batchmate in Protege, Mikoy Morales, went steady for sometime but they broke up some years ago. How is her heart now?
“Happy naman po ang puso ko,” she confesses. “May nagpapasaya. I’m inspired.”
But she wouldn’t reveal his identity as of now. “Non showbiz po siya. Bago pa lang naman kami. But he really understands my work, lalo na ‘yung nagkakalayo kami dahil sa lock-in taping.”

Allen Dizon plays a very demanding role in “Walker” that will surely make viewers hate his very guts.
“I’ve played negative roles before, pero ibang klase ang character ko rito as Greg,” he says. “Walang konsensiya. May asawa, si Ricci Jereza, pero may kabit, si Sunshine Dizon, at bukod doon, ginagalaw pa ‘yung mentally challenged sister ng kabit niya, si Barbara Miguel na gumanap pang anak ko noong araw na child star pa siya. ‘Yun namang isa pang sister ni Sunshine, played by Elora Espano, ireregalo ko sa mga kaibigan kong pulis and they will rape her and kill her.”
Did he have any hesitation in accepting the role? “I’m an actor, so I’m just playing a role.
Isa pa, si Direk Joel Lamangan ang director nito and I consider him as my mentor as I always learn a lot from him. I’ve worked several times with him. First time ko was in ‘Dukot’ where I won a FAMAS best actor award. Since then, he also directed me in
‘Migrante’, ‘Patikul’, ‘Sigwa’, “Kamkam’, ‘Deadline’ and ‘Burgos’. Basta siya, okay ako agad.”
Aside from “Walker”, Allen has also just finished a new movie with Louie Ignacio, “Abe Nida”, produced by Mrs. Baby Go. In the story, he plays a sculptor who’s losing his hold on reality, with Katrina Halili as his two-timing wife, Nida. With him having two new movies, how does he feel about the news that movie theaters are set to reopen in November after being closed by the lockdown for more than a year.
“Siempre, nakakatuwa. Gusto ko na talaga magbukas uli ang mga sinehan kasi ang mga pelikulang ginagawa namin, hindi lang naman para sa streaming kundi para sa malaking screen. Sana nga, itong bagong movies ko, maipalabas na sa sinehan at mapanood sa big screen.”
