Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, the Philippines’ first sky hotel, marks its 10th anniversary with a month-long celebration of moments that deliver the brand’s renowned world-class hospitality standard.

“The past decade has been a most extraordinary journey for us, and we are immensely grateful to our supportive stakeholders–our hardworking team, reliable public and private partners, and our esteemed patrons–for being with us through the years,” said resident manager Olivier Foucke. “It is humbling to have grown with Pasig City and its Ortigas Central Business District community, and we remain committed to our mission to reimagining experiences that captivate every individual.”

Situated in the heart of Ortigas, Marco Polo broke ground on December 10, 2010. Soaring over 500 feet with 45 stories, its inauguration was graced by then President Benigno Simeon Aquino III and was granted by the Department of Tourism a five-star accreditation upon opening. With its architectural design conceptualized by MOHRI, Architect & Associates, Inc. of Tokyo, Japan, and its interiors designed by Canada’s GLYPH Studio, the property became an iconic destination for travelers with a distinct taste for sophistication.

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila steadily grew its upscale patronage, most especially for dining; its contemporary Cantonese restaurant Lung Hin received multiple local and international accolades for its traditional and authentic cuisine. The hotel reaped success when tourism peaked in 2019, and with the rest of the hospitality industry, faced uncertainty through the COVID-19 pandemic. With the resumption of domestic and international travel, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is fortunate to have recovered from the worst, and is keen on moving forward by creating wonderful occasions for its guests to explore, discover and experience.

Wharf Hotels president Thomas Salg

“Domestic-wise, we see the business coming back. The market is still a bit short but we see great growth year over year. We are happy with our positioning in the market and we are getting our fair share of the market. We are running about 70 percent occupancy rate year-to-date but we need to see more incoming guests from international markets, especially long-haul and cross-continental arrivals,” Marco Polo’s parent company Wharf Hotels president Thomas Salg said.

Marco Polo Ortigas will also see renovations and upgrades in its rooms and facilities in the future as part of Wharf Hotels’ modernization efforts. “We are looking at what people actually need and what they don’t need. We are putting more emphasis on Wi-fi access and smart TVs in the room because these are what guests want. Moving forward, we will also have a brand which has its core standards but be flexible enough to take into consideration the local culture. If we try to be everything for everybody, we will be nothing for nobody,” Salg added.

In celebration of its diamond anniversary, the hotel also offers exciting promotions in all its restaurants and bars. Café Pronto offers a complimentary Americano, Latte, or Cappuccino with every pastry order made for the entire month of July. It also brings back the best-selling Hawaiian Bread which is filled with pineapple chunks, honey ham, smoked bacon, and mozzarella cheese.

At contemporary Cantonese restaurant Lung Hin, diners who spend at least P3,000 will be given a signature dish. They can choose from Honey-Glazed Barbecue Pork, Poached Live Shrimp, Crispy Enoki Mushroom Scallops, Deep-Fried Shrimp and Pork Spring Roll, Steamed Sliced Pork Belly and Salted Fish, Wok-Fried Flat Rice Noodles & Spareribs Black Bean Sauce, and more. They can also end the meal with a special Milk Tea paired with a Pineapple Bun.

At Cucina, three full paying diners get their fourth companion the same meal for only P10 for the entire month. A special treat also happens every Thursday as the hotel’s 5 dining and bar outlets come together to showcase their bestsellers for lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, Connect Lounge features multiple pasta and special iced tea combinations for the perfect quick meal. Finally, every week of July is a themed party at Vu’s Sky Bar and Lounge, with different theme promotions for each week.
