LAUGH the scorching summer heat off with the entire family, have fun in the theaters with topnotch comedians like Keempee de Leon and Eugene Domingo and fall in love with Enchong Dee, Maris Racal and Kaladkaren in writer-director Chris Martinez’ “Here Comes the Groom.”
It took thirteen years before Martinez came up with a sequel to the hilarious, laugh-out-loud “Here Comes the Bride,” which starred Angelica Panganiban as a pampered bride with Eugene Domingo, John Lapus, Tuesday Vargas and Jaime Fabregas. This time, “Here Comes the Groom” is much more hilarious as it delves into the unique story of Rodrigo, Sr.’s family who attends son Junior’s wedding in the middle of a solar eclipse.
While traversing a magnetic field, they figure in an accident with the family of konteseras — Mama Wendy, Wanda, Winona and their trainee Whitney.
A soul swapping occurs and this is where the non-stop fun and laughter begins. Will their bodies return to normal by the next solar eclipse?
At the recent press screening, one of the film’s producers, Atty. Joji Alonso, was thankful for the wonderful reception the movie received. “Thank you Lord for a successful premiere night followed by a mediacon. I could only heave a sigh of relief after the credits started to roll. It was well applauded and everyone was in high spirits with some people still laughing,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
“Thank you to everyone who lent support to our first public screening and for the very generous words for our ensemble cast.”
“Here Comes the Groom” also stars Miles Ocampo, Tony Labrusca, Gladys Reyes, Nico Antonio, Iyah Mina, Fino Herrera and Kim Atienza. Xilhouete is being introduced in the movie.
Written and directed by the award-winning Chris Martinez, “Here Comes the Groom” starts showing as part of the first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival on April 8.
