THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) in statement yesterday said that Aboitiz InfraCapital is expanding its 280-hectare West Cebu Estate (WCE) in Balamban Cebu by another 39 ha at a cost of P1.4 billion.
PEZA said AIC will also register with the agency its P7-billion 160-hectare TARI Estate in Tarlac City.
According to PEZA the expansion of WCE will accommodate four new locators that are expected to generate an additional 14,000 jobs.
AIC said the expansion is 80 percent complete. Construction will finish by the second quarter of 2025.
To date, WCE has 23 locator companies which have invested P35 billion. These locators have created 13,935 direct jobs and generate
WCE is home to shipbuilding giants Tsuneishi and Austal and is one of three operating manufacturing ecozones of AIC. The others are LIMA Estate in Lipa, Batangas, and Mactan Economic Zone II in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
In total, AIC ecozones house more than 250 business enterprises generating a combined total of P155 billion of investments, directly employing over 100,000 Filipinos and hosting other global industry leaders such as Epson, Grandsun Advanced Electronics, Kinpo Electronics, Lear Philippines, JTI, Yamaha, Draka (Prysmian Group), and other big-ticket investors and strategic industries.
