Charo, Christian, ‘OTJ: The Missing 8’ big winners in The Eddys 2022

Charo Santos and Christian Bables led the winners in the 5th The EDDYS (Entertainment Editors’ Choice) of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) held at the Metropolitan Theater (MET) on Sunday November 27.

Charo was cited for her performance in “Kun Maupay It Panahon,” which also won for production design, while Christian won for “Big Night,” which also won for best musical score and got the best screenplay award for its director, Jun Robles Lana.

The 5th Eddys was hosted by “King of Talk” Boy Abunda and directed by OPM legend and award-winning singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra.

“On the Job: The Missing 8” swept The Eddys with eight trophies, including Best Director (Erik Matti), Best Supporting Actress (Lotlot de Leon) and Best Film (Reality Entertainment).

Mon Confiado brought home the Best Supporting Actor trophy for “Arisaka.”

One of the evening’s highlights was the tribute to movie icons Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Phillip Salvador, Roi Vinzon, Alma Moreno, Elizabeth Oropesa, Helen Gamboa, Divina Valencia, and Sharon Cuneta. Phillip, Roi, Alma and Divina personally accepted their awards.

Meanwhile, Jona, Zephanie, Regine Tolentino and the Dance Royalties performed during the show. Ice Seguerra’s performance of “Minsan ang Minahal ay Ako” left many teary-eyed as photos of the late members of the entertainment industry were flashed on screen.

As with previous years, the auditing firm of Juancho Robles (Chan Robles & Company, CPAs) was in charge of the tabulation of votes for The Eddys.

Best Musical Score: Erwin Romulo (On The Job: The Missing 8”), Cesar Francis Concio (“Love is Color Blind”), Teresa Barrozo (“Big Night”)

Best Original Theme Song: “Maghihintay” from “More Than Blue” (Words, music and performance by Marion Aunor)

Best Visual Effects: Mothership for “On The Job: The Missing 8”

Best Editing: Jay Halili (“On The Job: The Missing 8”)

Best Production Design: Whammy Alcazaren (“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon”)

Best Cinematography: Neil Derrik Bion (“On The Job: The Missing 8”)

Best Screenplay: Jun Robles Lana (“Big Night”)

Best Director: Erik Matti (“On The Job: The Missing 8”)
