MR. DIY Philippines, one of the largest home and life improvement retailers, newly launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program called A-OK (Acts of Kindness), a testament to how it focuses not only on its growth but also on uplifting the communities as well.
A leader with over 20 years of experience in various prestigious retail companies, Roselle Marisol Andaya, MR. DYI Philippines chief executive officer, has been critical in steering MR. DIY toward environment, social, and corporate governance, and has a passion and heart for the community.
“We are now 339 stores strong — with our latest opening at Culiat Town Center in Quezon City. We will continue to grow this year and the years to come,” Andaya stated.
And because of this, Andaya noted: “We really are abundantly grateful. Thus, our initiative to give back to the community through our MR DIY A-OK CSR campaign — our overarching CSR program where we enable and empower communities.”
Andaya also said MR. DIY goes the extra mile to ensure its approach is holistic, focusing on the communities it serves.
“Under this A-OK program, we will strive to create more meaningful initiatives and partnerships with both the public and the private sectors,” she added. These are partnerships and initiatives that are reflective of its programs, four pillars — family welfare, preservation and protection of environment, youth and education, and disaster preparedness.
“We are confident that with these renewed partnerships, we will be able to better listen to and focus on our communities to take care of them through our effective programs,” she shared.
Explaining the direction and the ideals of A-OK, Charles Salecina, MR. DIY Philippines senior marketing manager, said they are proud of the impact they make in each store they open because they want to do their part in building healthy local communities.
“We know how shopping is a social activity for the whole family, and we believe that each MR. DIY store is a sort of center for every community it serves where people come together to be happy, fulfill their wants, and meet their needs through more than our 18,000 products under 10 different categories,” Salecina also said.
“We are inspired from the early community engagements that we have moved to elevate our CSR into the Acts of Kindness campaign, and its four pillars,” he added.
Each partnership aligns with each of MR. DIY’s pillars. “We have undertaken this engagement with them because their endeavors and programs align with MR. DIY ideals of family welfare, youth and education, preservation and protection of the environment, and disaster preparedness.”
MR. DIY also signed several memoranda of agreement with its partners for its CSR events this year.
