BARBIE Forteza just renewed her contract with GMA Artist Center and it is not surprising since she’s really one of the most prized Kapuso stars today. Her shows are topraters, even the ones where she’s just a guest like in “Regal Studio Presents” and “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko.” So when is her next teleserye after “Anak ni Waray”?
“Meron na po. We’ll start lock in taping anytime now. We will stop before Christmas then continue after the holidays. This is my first big blessing ko sa bagong taong 2022.But I can’t reveal details yet kasi wala pang go signal ang management. All I can say is this is more of drama than comedy kasi lately puro romcoms ang ginagawa ko.”
Barbie really has a lot to be thankful for. Her love life is an open book and her fans are very open in embracing her relationship with Jak Roberto. They have a huge following in their vlogs and they are known together as the “Jakbie” love team, one of the most durable among today’s stars.

There’s some fake news circulating that they’re currently having a rift, but obviously, it’s not true. We ask Barbie how she plans to celebrate Jak’s birthday on December 2 and she says they have actually already celebrated it.
“Kasi nga, I will be on lock-in taping so, bago pa ako pumasok sa quarantine namin, inadvanced na namin ‘yung birthday celebration niya.”

‘Hindi ako nagsinungaling, nagsabi ako ng totoo, pero na-judge pa rin ako. — AJ Raval’
AJ RAVAL
AJ Raval got emotional at the press con of “Crush Kong Curly,” her latest Vivamax release.
There’s a line in the movie where AJ tells her leading man Wilbert Ross, who accused her of being immoral: “Respeto muna bago judgment.” Can she relate to that statement?
“Yes, I can, kasi na-judge na po ako,” she said, referring to her being bashed after she admitted she’s dating Aljur Abrenica. “Alam naman natin ang mga tao rito. Hindi ako nagsinungaling, nagsabi ako ng totoo, pero na-judge pa rin ako. I tried to explain, pero walang nakaintindi.”
It was at this point that her voice broke and she started crying. After she wiped away her tears and she recovered, she said: “Ayoko na muna pong pag-usapan. Next question na lang po. Ayoko ng magbitaw ng kahit anong salita tungkol sa love life.”
In “Crush Kong Curly,” she plays Elle, a pretty girl with very curly hair who works as an online influencer. She then meets Wilbert Ross, her leading man, a former seminarian with conservative views. This is Wilbert’s first lead role. So how is it to be paired with a newcomer? Did she guide him in the movie?
“The good thing about Wilbert is he’s willing to learn and ready siya sa mga pinagagawa sa kanya ni Direk GB Sampedro,” she said. “He always tries to give his best by asking our director and the staff about his role. About guiding him, no, I didn’t make alalay to him.”
Wilbert said she helped him in their intimate scenes. “Sa love scene, tinuruan mo ako, sabi mo: ‘Tingnan mo ko sa mata, isipin mong in love ka talaga sakin.’ And for that, I’m thankful.”
Has she introduced any guy to her family who they’ve rejected?
“Ay, wala pa po akong napakilala sa family ko, kasi hindi pa naman ako nagkaroon ng serious relationship na sigurado. May nanliligaw noon sa akin na hindi tinanggap ng family ko. Ang tatay ko (Jeric Raval), laging nakabantay sa akin. Luko-luko rin yung tatay ko, so natakot ‘yung guy at siya na ang mismong lumayo.”

Jeffrey Hidalgo started his showbiz career as a member of the Smokey Mountain then went solo, finished college with a degree in engineering, tried acting, then directed films (“Silong”) and teleseryes for GMA-7. Now, he is part of the Vivamax stable of filmmakers and his first offering is the highly erotic film, “Eva,” which opens on Christmas Eve.
“Ito naman, Christmas Eva,” he joked. “We are giving viewers an alternative Christmas. Papaiinitin namin ang inyong mga Pasko.”
He has no qualms and pretension in declaring that “Eva” is really all about unabashed sex.
“Yes, the movie is really about sex. ‘Yung ibang movies, tipong sex-thriller or sex romance, ito, puro sex lang talaga, dealing with the psychology of sex and sexual politics. I think Pinoys are more open-minded now because of the internet and streaming platforms, so it’s about time we talk about it, so mapangahas talaga ito. My manager Lou Gopez said I’m the new Zalman King, the late American director known for his erotic films like ‘Two Moon Junction’ and ‘Wild Orchids,’ so hopefully viewers will like this new genre.”

What is “Eva” all about?
“The germ of the story came from me, about the sex life of a regular kasambahay, then Dennis Marasigan wrote the full script and nanganak ‘yung story. Lahat ng mga kuwento rito, galing sa tunay na mga kuwento ng kasambahay na nagkarelasyon sa kanilang mga amo, pinagsama-sama lang namin.”
He’s directing a cast of newcomers, led by Angeli Khang as Eva, Saab Aggabao as her lady boss, Marco Gomez as the houseboy who’s their boy toy, plus Ivan Padilla, Quinn Carillo and Angelica Cervantes who all have their own provocative sex scenes.
