Each of us has a journey toward growth and self-discovery; an evolving process through and through until one day we can take a step back and revel in the moments in between.
For William Alvarez, Patrick Esmao, Francis Evangelista, and Perfecto Palero, an integral part of the journey is the pause — points where we can take time to appreciate our pace and look forward to the unknown in a positive light.
The exhibition introduces a new, spirited body of work enlivened by the artists’ ideas and familiarity with home: revisiting the comfort, glory, and prominence of their integral past — brilliantly illustrated through nuances of strong color, texture, and form.
The works for “A Homeward Journey” take a step back and rejoice in their roots. Hailing from their hometown of Rizal, the artists achieve conceptual, abstract imagery enriched in nostalgia — comprising works inspired by Rizal’s rural townscapes, still life, and forest scenery. Serving as an homage to where endowed skills were honed, the works are a triumph of their journey as respected and sought-after artists of the now.
With this in mind, the participating artists hope for us viewers to take a moment from our journey in life to bask in stillness — to reflect on our self-development in momentary bliss.
“A Homeward Journey”, featuring works by William Alvarez, Patrick Esmao, Francis Evangelista, and Perfecto Palero, will be on view from November 8 to 20 with the artist reception slated for November 11, Friday at 5 pm.
