For many golfers, enjoying a good meal before tee-off is a treat in itself and in the newly-renovated Quest Plus Clark’s Mimosa Plus Golf Clubhouse, Baker J is more than willing to deliver French classics with aplomb. The second branch of Crimson Hospitality’s F&B concept, Baker J’s new home in Clark is shaping up to be the destination of choice for those looking for a classic French café experience.

“We launched Baker J online in the middle of the quarantine as we saw an opportunity to sell healthy bakes and other bread and pastries,” explained Chroma Hospitality country manager, James Montenegro. “We opened our first full scale restaurant soon after at Crimson Filinvest City Alabang. The success has been overwhelming which prompted management to expand. A second full-scale dining outlet and Quest Plus Clark’s Mimosa Plus Golf clubhouse is the perfect location.”

Helmed by Chef Jean Louise Leon, Baker J features an expansive selection of French classics such as the Coq Au Vin, Steak Au Poivre, and Salad Nicoise, but the resturant’s true strength lies in its all-day breakfast offerings.

Eggs Benedict, Chicken Tocino, Arancini — Pancake with blueberries and powdered sugar — French pastries on display

Opening as early as 6:00 a.m., diners can start the day right with Eggs Benedict and its variations, namely, Eggs Florentine with spinach instead of ham, or Eggs Royale, which uses smoked salmon instead.

There is also savory shakshuka, which is available in a vegetarian-friendly version and a meaty take using house-made spicy beef and lamb sausages. For those wanting something heavier, look no further than the Complet, a spread featuring 2 eggs cooked to your preference, sausage, bacon, roesti potatoes, and a side salad.

No breakfast would be complete without good bread and French pastries, and Baker J more than delivers. The café features crisp, flaky croissants, buttery Madeleines, decadent Kouign-Ammans, and a plethora of cakes. Wash the meal down with an assortment of beverages, from hot demitasses of espresso, to a nice cup of latte, to refreshing fruit juices.

The French philosophy of joie de vivre is in full display at Baker J Clark. The dining experience in the café is elevated with the sprawling golf course serving as the backdrop of the meal. It would come as no surprise that many would linger after their meals as they enjoy the day surrounded with good friends over even better food.
