The journey of the next 40 years begins. As in the first 40, we see ourselves slugging it out in the doldrum days of scarce news, then hammering away in the bustling years of bountiful reports about recovery and growth, about victories and defeats, in the good days and the bad. We will be there.
The world is changing. The country is no different. Lives have been transformed and jobs reangled to fit the so-called new normal that to this day remains undefined, at times unknowable.
But these are exciting times. For the world, for the country, for us.
The new normal catalyzed change, which no economist, technologist or even any science fiction writer ever conjured. Technology has primed everything with data. Economies that are constantly digitalized are being consolidated. Hybrid work and education have seen whole communities disrupted. And individuals perpetually connected have evolved ever faster, in intelligence and in involvement, in response to this new normal.
Sentiments are mixed, at times contrary, to be sure. But we will continue to keep our ears to the ground, to listen and report, to be where the pulse beats, bringing in a wealth of information to a readership that is keen on keeping in step with what matters.
Certainly, the pressures of rebuilding, the challenges of growth, the promises of change, will keep us in the maelstrom, in the swirl of things. We will be there. The daily grind in the next 40 years will be as valuable as the last. We may forget some and duly remember others, but our days will be done only when we have chronicled the truth and helped fight the untruth.
As in the past 40 years, we will be there for our readers. And for what the world holds to be true.
