STILL apparently affected by the severe cold European weather, Carlos Edriel Yulo scored 15.166 points to salvage a bronze medal in the men’s parallel bar finals early yesterday (Sunday night in Europe) in the first leg of the FIG World Cup series in Cottbus, Germany.
Often competing in sub-zero conditions in the four-day meet, Yulo, who led the parallel bar qualifiers with 14.933 points, settled for third place behind Ukraine’s Ilia Kovtun (15.366) and Italy’s Matteo Levantesi (15.266), who took the gold and silver, respectively.
The pint-sized Pinoy phenom had earlier washed out in the floor exercise and vault events where he had won gold medals in the 2019 and 2021 editions of the world gymnastics championships in Stuttgart Germany and Kitakyushu, Japan.
Yulo is hopeful of bouncing back in the second leg of the FIG World Cup tour starting in Doha, Qatar tomorrow where he will be performing in milder weather conditions.
