Hyundai-Kia recalling nearly 1.9M vehicles

Malaya Business News Online - Philippine Business News | Online News PhilippinesDETROIT — Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia are recalling almost 1.9 million vehicles in the US to fix problems with air bags and brake light switches.

The switch recall covers almost 1.7 million vehicles — most of the automakers’ model lineups from the 2007 through 2011 model years.

Group names Honda CR-V best compact crossover AWD

The CR-V 2.4 EX stood out among four other nominees in its class.

Audi suits up for Iron Man 3

The brand will once again be highlighted throughout the entire film. The Audi R8, R8 Spyder, A8, S5, and Q7 were all featured in the first and second installments.

Wildtrak: Truck with no compromise

Ford displayed its significantly expanded lineup of 10 class-leading all-new Ranger pickups  at the MIAS.  The expanded Ranger lineup includes seven new variants – led by the three range-topping all-new Ranger Wildtrak variants plus four models especially suited for fleet customers.

Quattro leads Audi vehicles in special exhibition

Malaya Business News Online - Philippine Business News | Online News PhilippinesThe Audi quattro delivered the most number of likes – 15,000 -- among 11 cars on display in the new special exhibition “I like it” to be held in the Audi museum mobile.

Most votes went to the 1984 Audi quattro with four-wheel steering, with the A1 clubsport quattro and Audi TT clubsport quattro joining the winner on the podium in second and third places.

Porsche Boxster, Cayman named 2013 World Performance Car

At a ceremony hosted by Bridgestone Corp. at the New York Auto Show recently,  the Porsche Boxster and Cayman were named the 2013 World Performance Car. The Cayman celebrated its world premiere only last November at the International Motor Show in Los Angeles, while the Boxster has been on the market now for a year.

The World Car Awards (WCA) are presented annually in four categories – Car Design, Green Car, Performance Car and Car of the Year. Winners are determined by an international panel of 66 automotive journalists from 23 countries. Jurors are appointed by the World Car Steering Committee based on automotive expertise, experience, credibility and influence. Since the inception of the World Car of the Year Awards, Porsche has won World Performance Car twice; for the 911 (2012) and for the Cayman (2006).

Toyota to replace aging Highlander SUV

The automaker unveilied a new version of the SUV last week at the New York auto show. It’s less boxy-looking on the outside and has richer materials on the inside. The Highlander can now fit an eighth passenger, it handles better and the ride gets quieter, the company says.
