TWO nights ago, at the formal party hosted by Zambia honorary consul to the Philippines Luis I. Ablaza and consul Amelia “Mellie” Ablaza of Guatemala, I had the pleasure of meeting the new ambassador of Zambia to the Philippines, Miles Kaweche Banda and his charming wife, Mrs. Maggie Banda.

LAST Tuesday (Dec. 10), Handel’s Messiah, a Christmas benefit concert for the Yolanda calamity victims, was presented at the UP Theater featuring the UP Arco, conducted by Marcil M. Martinez; the UP Concert Chorus with Janet Sabas-Aracama as conductor; the UP Los Baños Choral Ensemble with Romel Von Lomarda as conductor; the UP Cherubim and Seraphim with Elena Rivera-Mirano as conductor; the UP Manila Chorale with Emmanuel P. de Leon as conductor; the UP Singing Ambassadors with Ed Manguiat as conductor, and the UP Madrigal Singers with Mark Anthony Carpio as its conductor.
