OPEC and its allies are moving to extend the output cut for another six months, with consensus building for an extension, which is likely to be announced at a meeting scheduled for May 25.  If the success of the deal is to be judged purely by prices, then an argument could be made that it has at least led to crude finding a floor above $50 a barrel.
