PSC meeting on collegiate sports a go

THE Philippine Sports Commission holds the National Consultative Meeting on Collegiate Sports today and tomorrow at the Multi-Purpose Arena of the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.

Confirmation from different universities, colleges and school sports from across the country come pouring in, with the active reception of different athletic groups giving an encouraging prognosis to the hoped-for outcome of the 2-day conclave – to achieve a united collegiate sports program in the country.

“I am looking forward to this meeting. I see a fruitful exchange of ideas. We will not pretend to solve everything but we can start,” said PSC chief Butch Ramirez.

“If we could strengthen grassroots sports, strengthen school and university sports, we give a stronger foundation for our elite sports,” Ramirez added.

Sen. Sonny Angara will serve as keynote speaker. Rep. Mark Zambar has also confirmed his presence.

The PSC, under Ramirez, is giving focus on grassroots sports with numerous projects geared towards developing an active citizenry and encouraging integration of sports and movement in everyday life.

Today’s meeting is a follow-up on a previous consultation meeting last year.
