Isuzu adds new engine line-up, emphasizes luxury variants

EMPHASIZING the new level of luxury in two model updates, Isuzu also reminds its public that both the D-Max and mu-X now comes with the new Isuzu RZ4E Blue Power engine.

The new Isuzu RZ4E Blue Power engine is set to replace Isuzu’s existing 2.5-liter variants and will be made available first to the Isuzu mu-X SUV and later will be introduced to the D-Max pick up.

“Keeping our line-up fresh is the key to the very demanding market, especially for the pick-up and SUV segment. To keep up with the competition, we are offering two new variants which are designed to exude the more aggressive and luxurious side of the D-Max and mu-X models,” Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) President Hajime Koso.

During the last Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2018, IPC partnered with one of its strongest dealerships, Gencars to run the Isuzu booth at the annual car event.

“We are very proud to be participating in the 2018 MIAS, of course to launch to the public our latest Isuzu mu-X variants powered by the new RZ4E engine. This new engine is not only design to provide optimized power, but is also tested to provide better fuel economy,” Edgard Cabangon Gencars Inc. President and CEO said.

With a smaller displacement of 1,898-liters, the new RZ4E engine is capable to produce maximum power of 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 N-m from 1,800-2,600 rpm – and is Euro 4 compliant. With four years of test and development, and 200 new engine components installed, the new RZ4E engine boasts excellent fuel economy as tested by the company.

“The introduction of the new Isuzu mu-X RZ4E variants are a very welcome addition to the already strong line-up of our SUV model. Its excellent fuel economy coupled with the comfort and convenience of the mu-X makes it even better for the family,” Cabangon added.

It is interesting to note that during the test conducted under the supervision and verification of the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), following the Department of Energy (DOE) testing parameters and standards; the Isuzu mu-X RZ4E LS-A MT records 37.27 km/l which is up to 14.32 percent improvement from the 2.5-liter variant (32.60 km/l), while the Isuzu mu-X RZ4E LS-A AT logs a total of 35.80 km/l that is up to 48.36 percent higher than the 2.5-liter variant (24.13 km/l).

IPC also displayed the latest edition of the Isuzu D-Max X-Series which serves as the model’s offering to the younger market segment; alongside is the new mu-X Luxe which as the name suggests is the most well-appointed mu-X variant to date.

Dressed to be more edgy, the 2018 edition of the D-Max X-Series now has a black radiator grille with red Isuzu logo, a front and rear skirt lined with a deep red accent which not only adds to its looks but also assist in the vehicles over-all aerodynamics.

More on the exterior, the X-Series also has a color-keyed sleek cargo spoiler, matte black roof rails and red fog lamp garnish. To top off its look, the X-Series now has a black 18-inch alloy wheels with a matching red lip accent. Inside the cabin, the X-Series has a rocker plate with illuminated red Isuzu logo and additional multiple USB ports for driver and passenger convenience.

Meanwhile, the mu-X also sees a new addition to its line-up with the new mu-X ‘Luxe’ which brings together superior features that delivers a statement and status of a premium SUV.

The luxury edition mu-X is equipped with Power Lift Tailgate which opens and closes with a touch of button - for a hassle-free cargo loading. For added styling, light gray fender flares are installed which doubles as a protective feature to deflect rocks and debris away from the vehicle’s body.

Adding to its already premium interior, mu-X Luxe has a new blue illuminated scuff plate and 3D surround sound system to complete the over-all luxurious experience while driving or riding the new mu-X Luxe.

Available only on a 4x2 drivetrain, both the D-Max X-Series and mu-X Luxe runs on the ever-reliable 4JJ1-TCX 3.0L Blue Power Diesel engine that is Euro 4 complaint and is capable to produce 177 PS maximum power and 380 N-m maximum torque.

Similarly, the new Isuzu mu-X RZ4E variants are available in five dynamic color options;  P1.395M for the Isuzu mu-X RZ4E 4x2 LS MT, P1.570M for the mu-X RZ4E 4x2 LS-A MT and P1.595M for the Isuzu mu-X RZ4E 4x2 LS-A AT. An additional P10K will be added to vehicle price for the Silky Pearl White LS-A units only. – Gregory E. Bautista
