Experience the Force in Singapore

SINGAPORE – At the stroke of midnight on Friday, September 1, 2017, the Force will be strong at ION Orchard with the launch of Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival.

Organised by ReedPOP and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, with event partner ION Orchard, and the support of the Singapore Tourism Board, the 10-day festival will take place from 1 – 10 September. It will kick off with the worldwide
celebration of Star Wars Force Friday II – and fans in Singapore will be able to be a part of this global fan event celebrating the merchandise release of the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi at ION Station, at Basement 4 of ION Orchard.

The festivities will continue with exciting pop-up experiences and activities along Orchard Road, leading up to an epic experience at the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) from 9 – 10 September.

Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival is one of the initiatives supported under the three-year collaboration between Singapore Tourism Board and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. Beyond the Star Wars events this year, Disney
fans can also look forward to more unique Marvel and Disney Animation/Disney Pixar activities that will be taking the spotlight in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Visitors of all ages will be taken on an epic journey of Star Wars, indulging in a trail of exciting pop-up experiences and fan-based activities. Don’t miss the opportunity to snap a picture with the first-ever installation of the Millennium Falcon in Southeast
Asia at ION2, ION Orchard’s outdoor event space.

Southeast Asia will also welcome the first-ever Padawan Training, situated at ION. Brave, aspiring Padawans aged 4 to 12 are invited to train in the ways of the Force and learn how to master a lightsaber under the guidance of a Jedi Master.

Finally, fans can get to meet the most adorable droid in the galaxy, BB-8, as he makes his debut through a virtual reality experience in Southeast Asia at ION Station, Basement 4.

Retailers to look out for include; Toys “R” Us, Simply Toys, and Taiwan-based toymaker Beast Kingdom, who will be bringing their 3.5meter tall AT-ACT Walker set from the Battle of Scarifscene and exclusive merchandise EAA-055 Star Wars Episode
V: The Empire Strikes Back Darth Vader Hologram to Orchard Road (outside ION Orchard).

“ION Orchard is pleased to partner Disney, ReedPop and STB for this exciting blockbuster showcase.  ION Orchard has become known for our innovative retail positioning and events, and the exclusive debut of the Star Wars Millennium Falcon,
Padawan Training, limited-edition collectibles, and other in-mall activities will provide an immersive experience that complements our unique lifestyle offerings which will delight fans, shoppers and tourists from all-over the world; and will certainly be a
highlight for Orchard Road” said MrChris Chong, CEO of Orchard Turn Developments.

All festival experiences along Orchard Road are free-of-charge.

The 10-day festival culminates with an immersive experience over at STGCC, where an entire zone has been specially dedicated to Star Wars. At STGCC, fans will be offered the chance to get up close and personal with fan-built vehicle replicas,
games, releases and collectibles.

Be transported to a galaxy far, far away by a replica of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.

In addition, larger-than-life fan made props have been flown in specially for this exhibition, including Rey’s Speeder, signed by film director J.J. Abrams himself, and a film replica of the interior of the Millennium Falcon.

The latest addition to Star Wars’ ever-expanding mobile gaming family will be featured at STGCC. Fans are welcome to take aim and compete with one another in real-time demos.

Tickets to STGCC will also be available for purchase at the Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival at Orchard Road.

“We are all fans of the best in pop culture here at ReedPOP. This is why we’re honoured to host the appearance of Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival for the first time in Southeast Asia, alongside the global Star Wars Force Friday II
launch. As fans eagerly anticipate the next movie installation, we hope that this event will bring joy to all visitors”, said Ms Lin Koh, Assistant Project Director from ReedPOP.

Ms Carrie Kwik, Executive Director, Arts, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development, Singapore Tourism Board said, “Building on the success of the Star Wars event at Gardens by the Bay in May this year, we are pleased to partner with Disney
and ReedPOP to bring exclusive Star Wars experiences to our iconic Orchard Road and homegrown pop-culture show, Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention.

We have no doubt that Star Wars fans, both local and foreign, will have a celestial
entertainment experience once again in Singapore.”
