Back to ‘Tokhang’

Nine more months to go and yet the return of another wave of horror for some and those who consider the measure as an early Halloween curse, will definitely draw some lines. The PNP resumes its nationwide drive against illegal drugs after President Duterte realized that the drug operation has returned anew since he ordered the PNP to stop its Plan Tokhang and other anti-narcotics operations following the killing of Korean national Jee Ick-Joo inside the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame.

What further complicates the   anti-narco campaign is the media proliferation of unsolicited advice from international communities such as United Nations and alike. Good thing we have AFP on the side. AFP has tied up with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) under a memorandum of agreement. Dubbed as Joint Task Force Noah, the AFP will provide the PDEA with information collection and intelligence training.

It seems to be blood-spattered but it should also be clear to the mass that PNP said that this will be more safe, less bloody that before. Patterned in biblical context, the biblical character of Noah survived great flood and in that context those drowning in drugs and wallowing in illegal substances and its wanton use. It makes sense that even though the tool is allegedly harsh since people think it is as extrajudicial killings, it can also be drawn as parallel with the battle lines espoused by   President Rodrigo Duterte in the image of Noah who built the great ark as instructed by God to save humankind and animals from extinction. In Duterte’s mind, drug-dependent users being saved from shabu addiction.    Just  a wishful thought: It would be better to include plunderers and rapist in operation Tokhang and or and/or capital punishment. But for now, they are in safe haven. This will definitely fire out the annals of disgrace of greedy politicians and lustful maniacs minus the drug addicts at front. – KRISTINA E.
