Priest’s pimps nabbed in Marikina

THE Marikina City Police Station arrested a man and woman who reportedly acted as pimps to a 13-year-old girl for Msgr. Arnel Lagarejos, relieved parish priest of St. John the Baptist Church in Taytay, Rizal.

Senior Supt. Roger Quesada, city police chief, identified the suspects as Gerald Ace Robenta, 20, who was arrested in his house in Everlasting st., Barangay Malanday, Marikina City; and Luisa David, 21, who was nabbed in her house in Purok 7, Phase 3 also in Barangay Malanday.

Quesada said the two were subjects of warrants of arrest issued Monday morning by the Marikina Regional Trial Court Branch 92 for violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

No bail was recommended for their temporary freedom.

Quesada said Robenta and David were allegedly responsible for pimping a 13-year-old girl to Msgr. Lagarejos, 55, who was caught by the police and social welfare officers while about to check-in with the victim at a motel along Sumulong Highway in Barangay Sto. Niño on July last year.

The operation against Msgr. Lagarejos was based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother who said she saw their conversations on a social networking site. – Raymond Africa
