Mabuhay ka Romy Carlos!

Since joining the UP College of Fine Arts Alumni Association Foundation Inc. (UPCFAAAFI) I have had the pleasure of working with Romeo San Antonio Carlos whom we all fondly address as “Romy”.

Romy Carlos is president of UPCFAAAFI and his patience and dedication to his work truly makes him a very able leader of this group. Having been a  former De La Salle University Grade School Art Teacher from 1973 to 1983; and a former special
lecturer  at the  Communication Arts Department of the  De La Salle University,  I suppose  is the reason why Romy  has developed so much patience with his dealings with people – a trait so useful  many years after his teaching career. As many will agree, Romy, today, is very easy to work with.

As an artist, Romy Carlos’s artworks have been featured in group shows in the Philippines and in the USA.  He has held  one-man exhibitions  at the De La Salle University, the Philippine National Bank in Escolta; the Philamlife on the United Nations
Ave., GSIS in Manila.

Having been a full time artist since 1984, Romy has been doing commissioned works like the portraits of the De La Salle University presidents and other school officials.

As a leader, Romy Carlos was lead participant and organizer in the “100 Nudes , 100 Years  in June, 2008  and in four other succeeding UP Centennial  Artists Exhibitions in Novermber of the same year.

Of recent times, Romy was the lead artist of the Tandang  Sora Mural at the UP College of Social Work and Community Development; and again was project director of “SiningSaysay” (Philippine History in Art)  Mural project sponsored by  UP,
UPAA, and Araneta Center at the  Gateway Museum, Araneta Center.

In the past, this artist was a member of the prestigious Tuesday Group and the Saturday Group; and today, he is president of Portrait Artists Guild Inc. – a very dynamic and active group of artists  that concentrate in portraiture every Thursday of the
week.

As president of the UPCFAAAFI, Romy is very busy with the association’s on- going exhibit at the UP BGC which because of popular demand will continues until the last week of October.

Because of your leadership and hard work, you have motivated and inspired many artists  (including myself) to further improve in their artworks  as they participate in the exhibitions   which you have organized.

Mabuhay ka Romy!
