Brigada Eskwela kick-off in Batangas

SM Foundation in collaboration with Costa del Hamilo, Pico de Loro Beach & Country Club/ PSH, Manila Southcoast Development Corporation, SaveMore, DepEd teachers, and PTA led volunteers in the Brigada Eskwela kick-off on 15 May 2017 in public schools in Batangas.

Looc Elementary School, Looc National High School, Bulihan Elementary School, Papaya Elementary School and Calayo Elementary School in Nasugbu,  Batangas were spruced up in time for the opening of the school year on June 5. The volunteers from the different SM organizations had their hands full cleaning the classrooms, repainting the walls, repairing broken desks, and weeding the plants. Cleaning materials were provided for by the participating SM companies and prepared by SaveMore.

Overall team leader was Pot Romallosa-Paga (CDHI) with Marivic Que (PdLBCC), Celso Butor (MSDC), Allan Mamitag (Savemore), Rosalie Ogot (SMF) as group leaders.

This year’s Brigada Eskwela is a week-long activity that encourages community contribution in the responsibility of providing quality basic education. Aside from the involvement of the stakeholders in the physical upkeep of the schools, the activity is geared at improving student performance in school through community-initiated efforts.
