Rivals for one man

A parent is said to be ready to give up everything – even her life – for her child. But what if an estranged mother and daughter fall for the same guy? What if mom and daughter become rivals in love? Will the parent give way to her daughter? GMA’s new afternoon drama will tackle this intriguing drama about two women vying for the affection of one man in “Kapag Nahati ang Puso.”

“Kapag Nahati ang Puso” follows the story of Rio and Claire, who unwittingly become fierce rivals without knowing their real relationship as mother and daughter.

Sunshine Cruz is Rio Matias, a simple island beauty who meets the rich and happy-go-lucky Manila tourist Nico Del Valle, played by Zoren Legaspi. Rio gets smitten by Nico’s charm and they fall in love. However, their relationship is thwarted by Nico’s ex, Miranda Aseron, played by Bing Loyzaga.

A turn of events will cause Rio to lose her family while Nico will end up taking care of their daughter Claire, played by Bea Binene.

Years later, Claire grows up without knowing her real parents. Meanwhile, a now successful Rio returns to the Philippines. The unsuspecting mother and daughter cross paths, and both end up falling in love with Joaquin, played by Benjamin Alves. This and Miranda’s jealousy threaten to destroy the lives of Claire and Rio once and for all. Will the truth ever come out?

Playing an equally important role is David Licauco as Zach Yee, a varsity swimmer who is secretly in love with Claire. Completing the cast are Raquel Villavicencio as Amparo, Robert Ortega as Chuck, Sharmaine Santiago as Jasmine, Geleen Eugenio as Delilah, Nar Cabico as Samson and special guest Freddie Webb as Ramon.

Behind this engrossing drama is the creative team composed of Creative Director Roy Iglesias; Creative Unit Head Aloy Adlawan; Concept creator Kuts Enriquez; Headwriters Rona Lean Sales and Ken De Leon; Writers Anna Aleta Nadela and John Roque; and Brainstormer Gilda Olvidado.

Under the helm of Gil Tejada, Jr., “Kapag Nahati ang Puso” airs beginning July 16.
