Miss Scuba makes a splash

THE 15 contestants of Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 were presented to members of media last week at Belmont Hotel, all ready to trade their gowns and high heels for scuba gear and swim fins to help instill awareness for the protection of our oceans.

“The core principle of the pageant is ‘Saving Oceans Through Beauty’…,” said Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 national director and Miss Scuba International 2015 Cindy Pacia Madduma.

The 15 contestants are:  Karren Arias of Tacloban, Kristine Eiriel Nolasco of Manila, Nicole Aguilar of Mariveles, Florinda Talosig of Santo Tomas, Isabela, Helga Cerbo of Puerto Galera, Aliyana Ibnohajil of Alaminos, Laguna, Angela Hene Valdes of Legazpi, Jolina Anne Roque of Olongapo, Elle Hollman of Mariveles, Mirtle Keith Gimenez of Quezon City, Danica Joy Acuña of Romblon, Aivanna Elma of Parañaque, Mary Maureen Quiambao of Taguig, El Fel Sharae Banaybanay of Southern Leyte, and Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel of Misamis Oriental.

At the press meet, Sherlyn Doloriel, a licensed Philippine Association of Diving Instructors scuba diver even before she joined the pageant, was voted as Darling of the press with aspiring lawyer El Fel Banaybanay and freelance model Angela Valdes as runners-up.

The winner, to be crowned on October 10 at The Plaza, Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila, will represent the country at the 7th Miss Scuba International finals to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on Nov. 17.

The grand coronation night of Miss Philippines 2017 will be held at the Manila Hotel Tent tomorrow night.

Thirty-eight contestants from all over the Philippines are vying to represent the Philippines in international tilts, namely, Miss Tourism Queen International (in China), Queen & Beauty Universe (in Nigeria), Miss Tourism Universal (in Spain), Miss Princess of the World (in the Dominican Republic) and Miss Diamond of the World (in Montenegro).
