Miss PH tilt crowns first winner ahead of the finals

CONGRATULATIONS to Gareth C. Blanco, president of Miss Philippines Foundation Inc., and Hja. Hanina O. Alrefai, executive producer and executive director of the pageant for the successful launching and press presentation of the 40 contestants at Sulo Riviera Hotel in Quezon City last week.

The new beauty tilt’s finals, slated middle of September at One Esplanade in Pasay, will have five titles at stake: Miss Tourism Queen International Philippines, Face of Beauty International Philippines, Miss Queen of Beauty Universe Philippines, Miss Princess of the World Philippines and Miss Diamond of the World Philippines. Two runners-up will also be selected – Miss Pearl of the Orient Seas and Miss Maharlika.

But in an unprecedented move in a national tilt, the organizers announced that Miss Tourism Queen International Philippines would be announced at the press meet since the winner is scheduled to leave on September 2 for the international tilt in China.

Darlene May Panopio Reyes, a Tourism Management graduate of Lyceum of the Philippines University and representing Bauan, Batangas, was crowned as Miss Tourism Queen International Philippines 2017. Reyes, who was Mutya Singapore, bagged the Mutya Talent award at the 49th Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant.

In the same meet, Maria Isabel Dumada-og Alves of Talisay, Negros Occidental was voted as Darling of the Press.

As we write, Ovette Ricalde, the executive consultant of Miss Philippines said the Miss Tourism Queen International (MTQI) tilt in China was indefinitely postponed to give way to a major convention of the Communist Party of the People’s Republic of China.

The development means Darlene will be formally crowned at the finals. The other four titleholders will come from the rest of the delegates who will still go through the usual preliminary events and competitions.

Mrs. Tourism, a new international pageant for married woman, was conceptualized and launched recently by Ovette Ricalde of Megastar Productions. The pageant will gather lovely married women from all over the world and will crown three winners namely: Mrs. Tourism Universe, Mrs. Tourism International and Mrs. Tourism Earth.

The winners will be the face and voice of the tilt’s advocacy which is to stop racial discrimination; they will also promote their personal platforms and will be tagged as “The Mother Who Cares for the World.”

The Philippines will be represented by dermatologist Risa Caldoza who will join 30 other delegates worldwide for the tilt to be held in Manila from October 17-27, 2017 with Asian Dental Square and Zi Institure of Plastic Surgery and Dermaesthetics as major sponsors.

The inaugural Mr. Universe Tourism pageant preparations are in full swing as it gets ready to welcome 30-40 candidates from around the world in Manila. Organized by Kasama Inc., founded in 1992 by former Board Member Gerald Ortiz of Quezon Province, the international tilt will have its finals night on October 15, 2017 at the Palacio de Maynila.
