Mayor invites Miss U delegates to Calamba City

CALAMBA City Mayor Justin Marc “Timmy” Chipeco extended his invitation to the 65th Miss Universe Organizing Committee to include his city, the birthplace of National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, as one of the “must visit” places of the expected 90 delegates worldwide who will arrive in Manila in January 2017.

“Our city is known for resorts and hot springs. We also have heritage houses including the birthplace of Dr. Jose Rizal – the Pride of the Malay race,” said Chipeco, expressing his support of the Miss Universe Pageant even as he presented the
candidates of the 3rd Mr. and Ms. Calamba pageant recently at the sprawling 88 Spa and Resort.

“As we eagerly await the Miss Universe delegates in Manila in January, it is high time that Calamba be also known as the hometown of Filipinas with beauty and wit who have the potential of bringing pride to the country like reigning Miss Universe
Pia Wurtzbach,” Chipeco continued, noting the success of one of their 2014 Miss Calamba winners, Alexandra Mae Rosales, who won as first runner-up in the Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassador Pageant held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last year.

The pageant’s main vision is to hone young talents who will be in the forefront of Calamba’s tourism promotion.

The grand coronation night, to be directed by Gareth Blanco of Icon88 Productions, will be held at Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Calamba) tomorrow.

Hats off to Bb. Pilipinas-Globe 2016 Nichole Marie Ramos Manalo for winning third runner-up honors at the 43rd Miss Globe Pageant held last November 25 in Tirana, Albania.

The 26-year-old registered nurse and youngest sister of actress and Miss Universe Philippines 2009 Bianca Manalo and Bb. Pilipinas-World 2002 Kate Manalo Hernandez, also won the Dream Girl of the World title and placed third in a side swimsuit competition.

Nichole arrived last Wednesday and was warmly welcomed by Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. officials and members of media.

“I would like to thank my Bb. Pilipinas family, my mom and my sisters Bianca and Kate who were in Albania to cheer for me, and my Kagandahang Flores family. Thank you for the opportunity to be a source of inspiration and pride for our country,” Nichole said upon her arrival.

Nichole also gave her best wishes to Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational 2016 Joanna Louise Deapera Eden, who is competing along with 70 other delegates worldwide for the 8th Miss Supranational Pageant at the Hall of Sports in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland tonight.

Incidentally, Misters of Filipinas 2016 winner Alberto Rodulfo “AR” Yap de la Serna is vying for the inaugural Mister Supranational Pageant along with 40 other delegates worldwide to be held also at the Hall of Sports tomorrow night.

The delegates of both pageants also made side trips to nearby Slovakia as part of the official activities.

Pageant Watch wishes Joanna and AR all the best…bring home the bacon guys!
