Lovely Lipeña for Miss Tourism Universe 2015

A lovely teenager from Lipa City, Batangas will proudly carry the Philippine colors at the 11th Miss Tourism Universe Pageant, scheduled in Beirut, Lebanon on September 27.

Rianne Charlotte Kalaw, a 17-year-old, 5’7” Filipino-American beauty will be the first Filipina to vie in the 11-year-old Miss Tourism Universe Pageant after winning the Miss Tourism Universe-Philippines 2015 title at the Miss Tourism Philippines finals held at The Theater of Solaire in Parañaque City last July 30.

Rianne is a second year Tourism Management student at the University of Batangas.  She was crowned as Miss Lipa Tourism last June, thereby earning an outright slot for the Miss Tourism Philippines Pageant.

She leaves for Beirut, Lebanon on September 1 to join about 50 other delegates worldwide who will vie for the coveted title currently held by Ninoska Vasquez of Venezuela. The coronation night is set for September 27 at Casino de Liban in Beirut.

With exactly a month to prepare for the international pageant, RP’s bet is unfazed and remains positive, having gotten tips from Miss Tourism World-Philippines 2014 Cindy Madduma, who competed for the Miss Tourism World tilt in Venezuela last year.

Cindy has also been training Rianne to hone her catwalk and projection skills, along with the other Miss Tourism Philippines 2015 winners Roanne Samonte Refrea (Miss Tourism World), Leidda Paulette Almira Babasanta (Miss Eco Tourism International) and Alexandra Mae Bautista Rosales (Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassadress) who will vie for their respective international pageants later this year.

During the final question-and-answer round of Miss Tourism Philippine 2015, Rianne was asked what Philippine tourist spot would she choose in order to attract foreign visitors to come over. Quite smartly, Rianne replied that she would choose her native Lipa City because of its importance as a historical and heritage site in Southern Tagalog and its proximity to famous travel spots like Taal Lake, Taal Volcano and the beaches that dot the Batangas coastline.

Pageant Watch wishes Rianne Charlotte Kalaw all the best on her Miss Tourism Universe campaign in Beirut.
