The Kings open their hearts

Andrea Torres made it to Yes Magazine’s list of 100 Most Beautiful Stars and she rightfully belongs to the Sizzling Hot category as she really looks so sexy that night of the launching at Luxent Hotel.

“Medyo tumaba nga ako after ‘Alyas Robin Hood’ kasi napakain ako,” she said. “But now that we’re to start taping Book 2, nag-boxing and muay thai na uli ako at nag-diet kasi first week of telecast pa lang daw, may pasabog nang gagawin ang character ko, si Venus.”

But that’s not the hottest issue about Andrea these days. The latest buzz about her is that she left her original manager, Triple A Agency, and moved to GMA Artist Center. “Sa tingin ko, lahat ng decisions ko, guided naman ng Panginoon. Pinag-pray ko na makuha ko kung ano ‘yung dapat kasi you can feel naman kung ano ‘yung dapat para sa iyo. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Triple A for everything.”

She won’t say exactly why she left Triple A but we heard the reason is because of her tiff with Marian Rivera, who is also managed by Triple A. We thought it’s been ironed out but we heard there was another encounter between them when Marian accosted her but she chose to just keep quiet. Of course, she’d rather not talk about this, especially now that she’s paired anew with Marian’s hubby.

“I just pray to count my blessings. Stay positive na lang so you can enjoy your life, your career. The Lord tells me, huwag ka na lang mag-focus sa negative, sa good and bright side of things na lang.”

About Marian’s forever getting jealous of her and Dingdong Dantes, she says her conscience is clear. “Ever since, alam ko kunsaan ako lulugar. Si Kuya Dong din naman, very professional lang siya and he doesn’t let himself get affected by issues or rumors. Basta ginagawa namin ang trabaho namin para mas mapaganda ang ‘Alyas Robin Hood’!”

Sarah Geronimo is glad to be back in the arms of John Lloyd Cruz after the past three movies they made together: “A Very Special Love” in 2008, “You Changed My Life” in 2009 and “It Takes a Man and a Woman” in 2013. Now, after four years, they’re together again in “Finally Found Someone,” directed by Ted Boborol who made quite a splash in the last Metro filmfest with “Vince and Kath and James.”

“Siyempre it’s always fun to do a movie with John Lloyd kasi you know mataas ang quality ng pelikula kapag ang kasama mo’y isang magaling na aktor like him,” she says. “You can be assured na magiging maganda ang pelikula nyo.”

Their tandem is tagged as Team #AshLloyd and it’s initial working title was “Dear Future Husband.” “Mas maganda at mas bagay sa story ‘yun title ngayon na ‘Finally Found Someone,” Sarah adds. “The story is totally different na from our past three movies. We play different characters at hindi na kami sina Laida at Miggy. This is something that our fans have never seen before. Ang names na namin are Aprily and Raffy at mas lalong pinaganda ang story and characters namin.”

She also wants to correct the impression that the title “Finally Found Someone” is based on the hit song of Barbra Streisand with Bryan Adams. “Bagong-bago po ito at mas maganda ang lyrics. Kami mismo ni John Lloyd ang umawit ng theme song ng movie namin.”

So how is it working with John Lloyd again after four years?

“It’s always inspiring to work him kasi he brings out the best sa lahat ng leading ladies na nakakatrabaho niya. As an actor, he’s always believable. Kapag siya ang gumaganap sa isang role, he can make you believe na siya talaga ang characters na ginagampanan niya, so as his leading lady, madadala ka rin doon sa galing niya.”

“Finally Found Someone” opens in theaters nationwide on July 26.

The son of LJ Reyes and Paulo Avelino, named Ethan Akio but simply called Aki, is celebrating his 7th birthday on July 24. And it looks like there will be a big party as LJ even had a big pictorial for him with a superhero concept since Aki is wearing a Batman costume. But it’s not Aki’s biological dad, Paulo, who is with them but his mom’s current inamorato, Paolo Contis, who is separated from former dancer Lian Paz with whom he has two daughters.

They look like one happy family in the pictorial, with Aki even sitting on Paolo’s lap. You can see they are very close to each other and we heard that Aki is now much closer to Paolo than to his own dad, Paulo. No wonder netizens are asking how Paulo feel about this.

But obviously, Paulo is not that concerned as he is said to have a new girlfriend, a Filipino-Australian model named Jodie Elizabeth Tarasek. In an Instagram video, Paulo was even seen teaching Jodie how to speak some Tagalog words and Tagalog songs. Will this be the real deal this time for Paulo, now 29 years old, who’s been previously linked to KC Concepcion and to another model named Natasha Villaroman.

Model Joey Mead and her relationship with Angelina King is something for the books. When they got married, Angelina was still a man named Angelo. He later on transitioned to be a transgender and came out looking like a woman. This could have been a ground for annulment, but Joey chose to stand by her “man,” so to speak, supporting him, er, her all the way, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, whether you’re a man or a woman. It’s most certainly far from the way we traditionally view the union called marriage.

TLC must have seen how interesting their unusual relationship can be for the public so now, they have their own reality show, “The Kings,” that aims to answer questions on the minds of nosey viewers as to how they co-exist as no longer husband and wife but as wife and wife.

Their kind of setup might shock those who consider themselves as moral guardians of our society, but their honest confessions and candid revelations in the show will hopefully help viewers comprehend what makes them tick, what makes their unique and extraordinary love affair work. The show is a really big help to the LGBT relationships in making people understand the dynamics of their kind of relationships.

Joey and Angelina open up their hearts to share their most private feelings for non-gay people to understand their plight better, eliciting sympathy in the process. They are aware that there will always be haters who’d continue to bash them and even call their unconventional relationship a form of perversion, but it seems they’re ready for that and take everything in good stride.

Will they eventually be accepted by society as a whole? That remains to be seen. But it is a big help, of course, that Angelina comes from the wealthy King family who owns several big businesses, so they don’t have any financial problems at all, unlike other less fortunate gays for whom earning a living is as much as a priority as maintaining a more meaningful gay relationship.
