Kapuso stars amp up this year’s Sinulog, Dinagyang festivals

GMA Network, through its regional arm GMA Regional TV, delighted Cebuanos and Ilonggos when they brought some of today’s hottest artists for a series of shows last January.

In Cebu, no less than  Regine Velasquez-Alcasid led the biggest names in the entertainment industry that joined the colorful annual Sinulog Festival.

Meanwhile,  Lovi Poe and  Dennis Trillo headlined the show and Kapuso Fiesta last January 19 at the Gaisano Island Mall Mactan and The Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu, respectively. The two actors star in the romcom series “The One That Got Away.”

Joining Lovi and Dennis were the lead stars of “Kambal, Karibal”  Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali who both spread kilig to their Cebuano fans. Present as well during the show was “Sherlock Jr.’s” Ruru Madrid with his co-star Matt Evans.

The following day, January 20, Cebuanos filled the Waterfront Hotel and Casino to watch the launch of “3 Stars, 1 Heart” featuring the powerhouse trio of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Christian Bautista, and  Julie Anne San Jose. The ground-breaking concert series is a collaboration of GMA RTV with GMA Entertainment Content Group (ECG).

This year’s “Sinulog Grand Parade” was made special with the participation of the rest of the stars of The One That Got Away. Aactress/host Rhian Ramos and versatile leading lady Max Collins together with Ivan Dorschner, Migo Adecer, and Jason Abalos boarded the Kapuso Float last January 21.

GMA Cebu also aired a live coverage of the Sinulog Grand Parade that day. The“Pit Senyor: The Balitang Bisdak Special Live Coverage” was hosted by “Balitang Bisdak” anchors Alan Domingo and Cecile Quibod-Castro, together with Balitang Bisdak’s roster of correspondents
Chona Carreon, Lou Ann Mae Rondina, and Nikko Sereno.

The following week, GMA delighted its loyal viewers in Iloilo when it celebrated the Dinagyang Festival with various events from January 26 to 28. Ruru bannered the Kapuso Fiesta in Robinsons Place Iloilo last January 26 with his “Sherlock Jr.” co-stars Janine Gutierrez and Andre Paras.

The next day (January 27), Ilonggos who flocked to the Festive Walk Megaworld experienced an early Valentine treat when “Kambal, Karibal’s” Miguel and Bianca treated them to show.

“Taste Buddies” and “All-Star Videoke” host Solenn Heussaff also participated in the Dinagyang Festival celebrations, throwing a party for the crowd gathered during her Kapuso Meet and Greet at SM City Iloilo.

Capping off the Kapuso Dinagyang activities this year was the Kapuso Mall Show courtesy of the stars of the upcoming afternoon program “Contessa.” Talented actress Glaiza de Castro, who is set to play Contessa in the series, was warmly received by the throng of Ilonggos who gathered in SM City Iloilo last January 28. Joining Glaiza were her co-stars Lauren Young and Jak Roberto.

“We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support we received during the various shows we mounted last January. We know how awfully busy Sinulog and Dinagyang Festivals could be, but our Kapusong Cebuanos and Ilonggos showed us how much they fully support their favorite Kapuso artists. For this, we are very grateful,” says  Oliver Amoroso, GMA Regional TV vice president and head. “And this is only the beginning of a wonderful year for our loyal Kapuso viewers. Watch out for more events in the coming months ahead. These are all for you, because you continue to keep GMA 7 the number one network nationwide.”
