Jen can have her pick of Kapuso hunks

Since “Primetime Queen” Marian Rivera is happily in a relationship with “Primetime King” Dingdong Dantes, Jennylyn Reyes, holds the top spot as the girl most Kapuso boys have a crush on and the one they would like to work with.

Jennylyn, who is seen with her original partner Mark Herras in the primetime series “Rhodora X” every night, is also the pick of “Inaamorata” leading man Luis Alandy, who has been very open in expressing his admiration for Jen. We won’t be surprised if GMA decides to pair the two in a future show.

There’s also Benjamin Alves, who is into triathlons, just like Jen. The Kapuso actor won’t mind being paired with her anytime.

Speaking of Marian, her “Carmela” is actually the highest-rating primetime soap on television now, eclipsing ABS CBN’s “Dyesebel,” “Ikaw Lamang” and “The Legal Wife,” and GMA’s own “Kambal Sirena” and “Rhodora X.”
Hence, the rumor that it will end this month is farthest from the truth.

Fact is “Carmela” was just given an extension. So instead of ending this month, it will most likely remain on top of the ratings chart until May 23 – or longer, if it is given another extension.

Gary Valenciano is staging “Arise: Gary V 3.0,” his 30th anniversary show, at the Araneta this April 11 and 12.

The first night is already sold-out, we heard, and there are only a few tickets left for the Saturday show. This is good news, because “Arise: Gary V 3.0” is for the benefit of Yolanda survivors.

Guests for the show include Rico Blanco of Rivermaya, Myx VJ artists Sam Concepcion and Iya Villania, Paolo Valenciano, who will co-direct the show with his father, Gab Valenciano, DJ Papi and Tom Taus, the all-girl vocal group AKA JAM, G-Force, the Manoeuvres, and the LSDC, plus only daughter Kiana Valenciano. Pop Star princess Sarah Geronimo will also perform in tonight’s show.

“Villa Quintana’s” story gets a fresh plot and a new cast.

Normally when a show gets an extension, the tendency is that the story is stretched and it just feels that the whole thing drags on until it ends. A way to improve the story is to infuse new characters even if it’s in the middle of the season. This week, the top afternoon soap gets a new character, Linda, to be played by Katya Santos. She will be Don Manalo’s pawn as she introduces herself as the real mother of Lynette, played by Janine Gutierrez.

What happens to Amparing, played by Tanya Garcia? She could die as her character is of no more use to the villains of the story, but will the creative department of the soap do that? Tanya’s character, alongside those of Sunshine Dizon, Raymart Santiago and Paolo Contis are the most beloved of the stars of the number one afternoon soap in the land and the four form the backbone of the story. Killing Tanya might not be a good idea, we think.
