How to be Tweetie

Supermodel Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales does not keep secret that she’s 50 years old.

And why would she?

The newest endorser of Organique Acai Berry can give twenty-year-olds a run for their money. She is one of those celebrities who are able to beautifully balance her personal and professional lives – and it shows in her countenance.

When told that she looks the same as when she was strutting on the catwalk in her twenties, deadpanned, “Ha? Hindi ba ako nag improve?!”

Turning serious, she said: “At this age, I’m happier about myself, I like myself better now. I’m not anymore antsy. I’m more accepting of myself, I’m kinder to myself and therefore I’ve become more positive and outwardly I’m a positive source of energy to the others around me and hopefully in that way I’m able to help them get on with their days. Parang I’ve nothing more to prove, not to others – that’s not what I’m saying – I don’t need to prove anything to myself, kung nagkulang man ako somewhere, ganun e,” she shrugged, “I’m not capable of being perfect. Ok na rin ‘yun sa akin. I’m more forgiving of myself. That’s what it is.

“I try to achieve balance, I eat well, I take care of myself well, so because I feel good about myself, I’m able to take care of my children and I take care of my relationships with other people which is something that means a lot to me. I put a lot of weight in my relationships with other people, whether they are acquaintances, whether [they’re] close to me, whether kinakainisan ko siya,” she added with a laugh.

The wife, mother of four, jewelry designer, entrepreneur, model and host of “Philippines’ Next Top Model” seems to have it all. But her busy schedule must have also taken its toll. Although she leads an active lifestyle and eats healthy, she discovered two years ago that she had acid reflux.

For a time, she was dependent on over-the-counter medication for first aid and maintenance. Then, she met Cathy Salimbangon, executive vice president of Organique which she co-founded with her husband Elton seven years ago.

“I have very bad hyperacidity previous to taking Organique,” Tweetie admitted. “In just a matter of days, in one week, I was completely well. So it’s that potent. I drink it first thing in the morning and about 15 minutes later I take my double espresso.”

Though she’s read up on its benefits, she did not immediately jump at the opportunity of endorsing Organique.

“I didn’t know enough about the fruit until I met the owners of Organique,” she related, “They told me about it and then they asked me to join the Organique family and I said, let me learn about it first, let me experience it before I decide. So in a matter of days, I decided, yeah it’s true to its claims.”

With her looking spectacular, and with a happy life with husband Mon and their four kids, Sabina, Lorenzo, Nicolas and Alfonzo, is she still willing to revive her showbiz career? Tweetie famously played Faye in Vic Sotto’s sitcom, “Okay Ka Fairy Ko,” for six years.

“Hindi ko alam, hindi pa naman dumating so hindi ko pa naiisip. I guess it’s a cliché to answer this way but we’ll see what is offered and if it’s worthy of consideration, you’ll never know,” she replied. “Hindi naman ako takot sa trabaho, sanay naman akong magpagod, sanay akong magbanat ng buto, so yeah…”
