Former beauty titlists among early favorites in Binibining Pilipinas

THE 54th Binibining Pilipinas pageant has selected its 40 official candidates after a two-day screening process that saw almost a hundred aspirants enlisting to be the next crown keepers of the country’s premiere beauty tilt.

A merry mix of repeaters, “crossovers” and newbies made it to the final cut of 40 after presenting themselves in swimsuits and cocktail dresses before the Binibining Pilipinas executive committee that includes chairperson Stella Marquez-Araneta, vice chair Conchitina Sevilla-Bernardo, and members Betsy Westendorp and Raymund Villanueva. 

The 40 official candidates are Ruffa Nava, Mae Lanie Chan, Clarice Marion Villareal, Katarina Sonja Rodriguez, Karla May Manongsong, Jessica Ramirez, Christagale Borja, Jennyline Carla Malpaya, Maria Camille Manalo, Dane Felisse Marasigan,
Juliana Kapeundl, Ana Patricia Asturias, Joselle Mariano, Mae Liezl Ramos, Ma. Bajieleen Nama, Jamaica Elysse Ambal, Sarah Joreh Asido, Gabriela Patricia Ortega, Larah Grace Lacap, Nelda Ibe, Beatrice Valente, Chanel Olive Thomas, Leitz Camille Ang, Arah Salientes, Kristie Rose Cequeña, Charmaine Elima, Vanessa Saliba, Thoreen Halvorsen, Arienne Louise Braga Calingo, Sirene Sutton, Angelique Celine de Leon, Elizabeth Durado Clenci, Kimberly Pajares, Kristel Guelos, Sammie
Ann Legaspi, Marie Angelica de Leon, Jehza Mae Huelar, Dindi Joy Pajares, Rachel Peters and Marie Gail Devora Tobes. 

Early favorites are Mariel de Leon, the daughter of actors Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong who was a top 15 finalist in 2013; Rachel Peters, a British-Filipina from Camarines Sur; Nelda Ibe, Miss World Philippines 2nd Princess 2014, model
Sirene Sutton, Miss World Philippines 2016 1st Princess Arienne Calingo, and Mutya ng Pilipinas 2012 2nd runner-up Larah Lacap.

The ladies were scheduled to complete their paper requirements with the legal team yesterday and will undergo a series of photo shoots leading to the press presentation on March 15.

The grand coronation night – to select the new Philippine delegates for Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Grand International, Miss Supranational, Miss Intercontinental and Miss Globe – will be held on April 30 at Araneta Coliseum.
