The best ‘award’ for Luis

JESSY Mendiola gave a short – and safe – answer when asked about her relationship with Luis Manzano.

“What you see, is what you get,” she said with a smile.

Meanwhile, Luis, we heard, had a single-word reply: “Awesome.”

Awesome is also how Jessy described her recent victory as Best Asia Pacific Star Award winner in the Asia Pacific Actors Network (APAN) Star Awards 2016 held in Korea.

She is the first Filipino actor to win the award, according to MBC, considered one of the largest networks in Korea.

“Ang daming Pilipino sa audience,” Jessy noted. “They gave me a resounding ovation. I thank all of them so much.”

Now back home, Jessy has resumed work on Regal Entertainment’s “Mano Po 8: Tsinoy,” which is intended for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. Richard Yap, Jean Garcia, Enchong Dee and child star Jana Agoncillo are also in the cast. She has another movie, “Extra Service,” under Star Cinema.

We learned from Luis’ talent manager, June Rufino, that his two reality shows, “Family Feud” and “Minute To Win It,” have both been extended for another season.

It really is no surprise because Luis is one of the most awarded hosts we have. But more than the awards, what gives him the most joy is his mom, Lipa Representative Vilma Santos, who would call him just to express how proud she is of him and how much she loves her firstborn.

Vina Morales is very much in love with French businessman Marc Lambert. She admits she is looking forward to settling down with him.

“Ang bait niya,” Vina said of Marc, “and he loves my daughter (Ceanna). Most of all, he understands my career and my wish to stay in the business for another two or three years.”

Vina revealed that if Marc would have his way, he wants them to tie the knot – ASAP!

This year, Vina marks her 30th year in the business via the concert, “Vina @ 30,” at Kia Theater on October 14. Her special guests include her youngest sister, Shaina Magdayao, her close friend, Ogie Alcasid and her ex, Robin Padilla.

Ceanna, who seems to have inherited her mom’s beautiful voice, might also do a special number with Vina.

Pops Fernandez is the producer of the show.

Jodi Sta. Maria is sure to be present at this year’s International Emmy Awards, where her performance in the series, “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” earned her a nomination in the Best Actress category.

She is nominated alongside U.K.’s Judi Dench (“Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot”), Brazil’s Grazi Massafera (“Verdades Secretas”) and Germany’s Christiane Paul (“Unterm Radar”).

The winners will be revealed on November 21 at the Hilton New York Hotel. Jodi will be attending the affair with her only son, Thirdy, with former husband, Pampi Lacson, son of Senator Ping Lacson.

“Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” is shown in Peru as “The Promise.” It will soon hit other networks in different key cities in Asia and Europe.

Jodi’s next project is the movie, “Dear Other Self,” with JC de Vera and Joseph Marco. It will be directed by Veronica Velasco.

“Pinoy Boyband Superstar” contestant Tony Labrusca had no idea his appearance in the show would lead to his meeting with his father, actor Boom Labrusca.

His mom, while still pregnant with him, left for abroad and married his stepdad.

Tony’s mom was a former member of Kulay band, which also included Rada, the granddaughter of former actress, Lolita Rodriguez.

Tall, slim and a looker, Tony may just end up as one of the winners.

“If that happens, I will cry,” admitted Tony to the judges, Vice Ganda, Yeng Constantino, Sandara Parks and Aga Muhlach.

Well, he was close to tears when he finally came face to face with Boom, who was in the audience.

Boom, 39, appears in Kapamilya programs.
