Angelu reunites with former loves

ANGELU de Leon is not too keen about talking about Bell’s Palsy, defined as a paralysis that distorts one side of the face because of a lesion of a facial nerve.

At the presscon of “Mulawin v Ravena,” the actress would rather focus on bouncing back and acting again. 

 “I’m just glad I overcame it – yes – without any trace that I had a fearful bout with the sad illness,” she shared, “Thanks to my husband (Lorenzo or Wowie Rivera) na karamay ko all throughout.”

In “Mulawin vs. Ravena,” she is reunited with Bobby Andrews, who was her screen partner years ago in the youth-oriented series, “TGIS.” 

“And guess who else I’m reunited with in this series?” she further asked.

“Joko Diaz!”

Diaz is the father of Angelu’s daughter Nicole, now 18 years old. She has another daughter, Louise. With husband Wowie, whom she married in 2010, she has a son, Rafa.

“Mulawin vs. Ravena” is the sequel to “Mulawin,” which starred Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin in the lead 12 years ago.


Speaking of Richard and Angel, the two will be reunited in a Star Cinema movie titled “Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko.”

It will also star Angelica Panganiban, who will be working with Richard for the first time.

Meanwhile, Angel and Angelica, who were together in “One More Try,” admitted that while doing the drama directed by Ruel Bayani, the two didn’t see eye-to-eye. 

That was when they were much younger. The two have a close friendship now.


Remember Divine Lee, the socialite turned host who was linked to Victor Basa?

Well, Divine and Victor are now history. Nothing much is heard about Victor, while the latest report about Divine is that she recently married Cebuano businessman Blake Go.


Jodi Sta. Maria remains mum about the status of her romance with Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla.

“Vice Jolo would rather not comment about it either,” said a kibitzer, “He would also neither admit that he is set to make a special appearance in a top-rating series. We heard he could not say no to the business unit head of the series so even if he was feeling unsure since his last TV appearance in Binondo Girl was years ago, he is considering the offer. It’s said that he really likes the role he was assigned.”

Incidentally, “Binondo Girl” was where Richard Yap was introduced. Richard, of course, was later paired with Jodi in “Be Careful With My Heart.” Now there are news that Jodi and Richard will reunite in another series.


Jodi’s leading men in “Dear Other Self” –Xian lim and Joseph Marco – might be younger than her but both are very mature.

“Magaling talaga sila both na artista,” said Jodi. “Kung sabagay magaling si Direk Veronica (Velasco). Alalay talaga siya, kapag napapansin niyang medyo hirap kami sa eksenang kukunan sa amin.”

Jodi   worked with Velasco in an indie film years ago and the actress has always been vocal about admiring the latter’s work.

“Dear Other Self” is under Star Cinema, which has Malou as managing director, and shot partly in Thailand.
