3 Oscar nominations for ‘I, Tonya’

Margot Robbie’s sterling portrayal in the biopic “I, Tonya” earned the Australian actress her first three Oscar nomination. The darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding also garnered Academy Award nods for Best Supporting Actress for Allison Janney and Best Editing for Tatiana S. Rigel.

Based on the unbelievable but true events, “I, Tonya” tells the story of Harding, who dominated the ice with unrivaled athleticism and is the first American woman who completed a triple axel in the competition. Unfortunately, her legacy is forever defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived, and even more poorly executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan.

Featuring an iconic turn by Robbie as the fiery Harding and the tour-de-force performance by Allison Janney as her acid-tongued mother, LaVona Golden, “I, Tonya” is a controversial and shattering portrayal of Harding’s life and career in all of its glory – unchecked and checkered. It is exclusively distributed by Solar Entertainment.
